Cheam Cricket Club's indoor winter programme begins this Tuesday at Harris Academy Sutton. Boys and girls from school Year 3 up to age 16 are welcome, and the first session is free.

The outdoor season may be over, but cricket in Cheam doesn't stop for winter. Our ten-week indoor programme starts on Tuesday 6 October, and the opening night doubles as our Winter Open Day – a chance for new families to come along, meet the coaches and try a session for free.

Where and when

The first session of each block is at Harris Academy Sutton, 2 Chiltern Road, Sutton SM2 5QP. From week two, sessions move to Overton Grange School on Stanley Road, Sutton.

School Years 3 to 6: 6.10pm to 7.30pm (softball).

Ages 12 to 16: 7.40pm to 9.00pm (hardball).

Block A runs for ten Tuesdays, from 6 October to 8 December 2026. Block B runs from 12 January to 16 March 2027, so if autumn is busy, the new year is another good time to start.

What to bring

Younger players need only trainers and something comfortable to move in. Players aged 12 to 16 need their own hardball kit.

Who it's for

Boys and girls train together, grouped by attendance and ability. There are no trials, ever – complete beginners are just as welcome as children who already play. Every session is led by ECB-qualified coaches. If you're looking for girls' cricket in Sutton, this is a relaxed way to begin – find out more on our girls cricket page.

Cost

The first session is free for new families. After that, a full ten-week block is £140 for members and £170 for non-members. A three-session trial is £48 for members or £54 for non-members, and single drop-in sessions are £18 or £20. Brothers and sisters get 10% off, and bursaries are available so that cost is never a barrier to playing.

Open Day special: on Tuesday 6 October only, a full ten-week block is £150, for sign-ups made on site at Harris Academy Sutton.

How to book

New families can register for the Open Day through our Open Day page. Existing members book through Pitchero. Full details, including dates and venues for both blocks, are on our Winter Programme page.

Cheam Cricket Club was founded in 1864 and has been bringing cricket to families across Sutton and Cheam for more than 160 years. Winter is a great time to pick up a bat for the first time – we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
