Chairman's Welcome
Welcome to Cheam Cricket Club Juniors Section,
Our youth section is a source of pride and continues to develop year on year. This year will likely be one of our biggest intakes yet due to our good relationship with local schools. We have gone one step further this year and will execute a program that exceeds county requirements for each age group with formal assessment incorporated.
As a parent with a young children beginning their cricket journey, and after taking on board the views of other parents and respected coaches, we had some clear goals for what we want the programme to achieve. Our ambition is to provide cricket opportunities and enjoyment for boys and girls of all ages & abilities whilst also promoting excellence, teamwork, and individual development.
All age groups should be taught in a fun and nurturing environment but cater for all abilities. The
early years focus on developing basic skills and as they progress through the age groups and
more technical refinement is focused on.
If your children show promise, you will see us nurture it, and for those whose children want to see how far they can take their ability we will support that too. Last year was one of our strongest years for kids trying out for the County programs. Children progress from their respective age groups as they show talent into our Academy System and are gently introduced into the Adult game when appropriate.
We have a stable and experienced coaching team and add to them every year, with quite a few
additions being our own players who have been colts now teaching the current crop once suitably
qualified.
We are an ECB Clubmark Club, which means we are regularly appraised to check we meet the
highest standards in our delivery of Program as well as Administration.
As a club, our strength has always been our inclusivity and family-based environment and I believe in club members coming together to mould the club to their collective vision. We are committed to youth, and we aspire to develop one of the strongest coaching programmes in the county. We are supporting our ambitions by investing as much time and money as we have at our disposal. I can safely say we are one of the most diverse and inclusive clubs in the county.
Please feel free to be inquisitive and get involved. There are numerous jobs to do at a cricket club so
if you can offer to help in any way and to be an active participant you will get the most out of your
child’s membership with us and find the experience richly rewarding.
