Missed the start? It's not too late to join winter cricket training in Sutton

Cheam Cricket Club's Tuesday-night winter sessions are under way, but there is still plenty of time to join. Here is how families in Sutton and Cheam can jump in this autumn – or plan ahead for January.

Cheam Cricket Club winter training in Sutton: missed the start? It's not too late. Tuesday evening indoor cricket, nine sessions to 8 December, new block from 12 January.

Our indoor winter programme began on Tuesday 6 October, and if you missed the opening night, don't worry. There are still nine sessions left in the autumn block, running every Tuesday evening until 8 December – including half term, when we train as normal on Tuesday 27 October.

From the second week of each block, sessions take place at Overton Grange School on Stanley Road, Sutton, which has full-size indoor nets and parking.

There are two groups. Children in school years 3 to 6 play indoor softball cricket from 6.10pm to 7.30pm. They just need trainers and comfortable clothes – all equipment is provided. Players in school years 7 to 11 train with a hard ball from 7.40pm to 9pm and bring their own hardball kit. Everyone should bring a drink.

Boys and girls train together, and there are no trials and no minimum standard. Beginners are in every group, and our ECB-qualified coaches work in small groups, so a newcomer joining in week two or week five will be looked after just as well as someone who has been coming for years.

If you are not sure yet, there is a 3-session package, so your child can try a few weeks before committing. Single sessions are available too, and siblings get 10% off each additional child. Families joining part-way through can book single sessions or the 3-session package now. All the options and prices are on our Winter Programme page: https://www.cheamcricketclub.com/winter-program

Thinking further ahead? Our second block of ten sessions starts on Tuesday 12 January 2027 and runs until 16 March. As with the autumn block, the first session is at Harris Academy Sutton on Chiltern Road, before moving to Overton Grange. Half term is covered again, with a session on 16 February.

New families can book online here: https://www.cheamcricketclub.com/book-online/services. Existing members book through Pitchero, where payment can be spread over instalments. If you have any questions, get in touch through our Contact page: https://www.cheamcricketclub.com/contact

Cheam Cricket Club has been going since 1864, and every cricketer in that long history started somewhere. A Tuesday evening in Sutton is a very good place to begin.
