Clocks go back: winter cricket in Sutton carries on indoors, and where to find us on 3 and 10 November

The clocks went back on Sunday 25 October, and the evenings now feel properly dark. The good news for young cricketers in Sutton is that Cheam Cricket Club's Tuesday winter training is held indoors, so the weather and the early dark make no difference. Sessions are drills and game-based learning.

What time is training?

Winter training runs on Tuesday evenings. School Years 3 to 6 train from 6.10pm to 7.30pm, and Years 7 to 11 from 7.40pm to 9.00pm. Boys and girls train together in small groups, led by ECB-qualified coaches, and there is no minimum standard. Beginners are very welcome.

Where are we in November?

Most sessions are at Overton Grange School, 36 Stanley Road, Sutton SM2 6TQ. But on Tuesday 3 November and Tuesday 10 November we move to Harris Academy Sutton, 2 Chiltern Road, Sutton SM2 5QP (entrance via Chiltern Road). Both venues are indoors and have parking.

So if your child usually trains at Overton Grange, please note the change for those two dates. We are back at Overton Grange from Tuesday 17 November, and this block runs until Tuesday 8 December.

What to bring

For Years 3 to 6, everything is provided: children just need trainers and comfortable clothing. Older players should note that some Years 7 to 11 sessions use a hard ball, so protective equipment is worth having.

New to the club?

New players are very welcome at any point in the block, and you only pay for the sessions that are left. Book a session

Full dates, venues and booking details are on our Winter Programme page.

Whether you have been coming since October or are thinking about starting, we would love to see you at Cheam Cricket Club on a Tuesday evening.
