Half-term cricket in Sutton: winter training carries on Tuesday 27 October
No break for half term at Cheam Cricket Club. Our Tuesday evening winter training for boys and girls goes ahead as normal on 27 October, and a new player's first night is free.
Half term can leave families hunting for something active to fill the week. At Cheam Cricket Club we keep it simple: junior winter training carries on as normal on Tuesday 27 October, so there is no gap in the programme and no reason to miss a week.
What happens on the night
Children in school years 3 to 6 train from 6.10pm to 7.30pm. They play softball cricket, all the equipment is provided, and all they need is trainers and comfortable clothing.
Players in school years 7 to 11 train from 7.40pm to 9pm with a hard ball, and bring their own kit.
The half-term session is at Overton Grange School on Stanley Road, Sutton, which has full-size indoor nets and parking. Because we are indoors, nothing gets cancelled for rain.
Boys and girls train together in both groups. Sessions are led by ECB-qualified coaches in small groups, and there is no minimum standard: beginners are placed in every group.
Never played before? Your first night is free
If your child is new to the club, their first session costs nothing. You can book a free taster on any Tuesday in our autumn block here: https://www.cheamcricketclub.com/taster
After that, a single session is £20 (£18 for members), or a three-session package is £54 (£48 for members). Brothers and sisters get 10% off each additional child. Members book through Pitchero; new families can book online here: https://www.cheamcricketclub.com/book-online/services
Something for the rest of the week
For the other half-term days, our free Willow and Cherry cricket fun pack has a comic strip, a colouring page, a maze and a word search to print at home: https://www.cheamcricketclub.com/funpack
And after half term?
The autumn block runs every Tuesday until 8 December. A second block starts on 12 January 2027, when our free Winter Open Day runs alongside the first session at Harris Academy Sutton.
Families come to us from across Sutton, Cheam, Belmont, North Cheam and Worcester Park, and from Banstead, Ewell and Carshalton too. If you are within about fifteen minutes of Sutton, you are in our catchment.
All the dates, times and prices are on our Winter Programme page: https://www.cheamcricketclub.com/winter-program
Whether your child has played all summer or has never held a bat, we would love to see them on Tuesday 27 October.
